Colossae Lycus River

The lukewarm water of Laodicea (Revelation 3.16) is contrasted with that of the Lycus River, which receives its cold waters from the snow-capped Mount Cadmus (today Mount Honaz). A tributary of this river runs in a deep gorge and disappears from view near Colossae. On the north side of Colossae, the Lycus River appears again through an opening in a cave, which is visible in the picture. Eventually the Lycus River flows into the Meander River further to the west.
