Ephesus Curetes Street

The Curetes Street, one of the main streets in Ephesus, led from the commercial agora near the harbor to the State Agora with its Basilica and Town Hall at the upper part of the city. The street is named after the priests who served in the temples and it was lined with monuments and statues of important citizens of Ephesus. On the right is the Temple of Hadrian. The street looks magnificent today, but would, of course, have looked much more impressive before it was destroyed, probably by an earthquake.
