Ephesus Pollio Aqueduct

$3.00

Here we see the remains of a two-storey high Roman aqueduct which used to bring water to Ephesus. It spans the Dervenddere River, the ancient Marnas River, and was constructed between 7-15 AD.. The aqueduct has three large arches in the lower level, with six smaller arches on top. It derives its name from the inscriptions found on either side of the aqueduct, recording that a certain Sextilius Pollio provided, with his wife and stepson, funds for its construction.
